TRURO, Iowa -- Like many brothers, Ryan and Logan Gihring played football growing up, and many figured they'd continue their football careers throughout high school at Interstate 35 H.S. But this year, oldest brother Logan called it quits. Sort of.

He's not on the field, but Logan Gihring is still in the game. For his junior year of high school, Logan decided to wear a different kind of uniform. He traded in his pads for polyester.

"He started out playing football here, and then decided it really wasn't for him. He saw what the cheerleaders were doing and he'd heard that other people were cheerleading and having a fun time doing it. So, he went to a couple of practices and from that it just kind of took off and he loves it," says Debbie Breese, Logan's mom.

Logan says, "Man, I'm having a blast. It's awesome." He has his reasons. "Well, girls for one," Logan says with a smile.

Just because Logan's not blocking and hitting on the gridiron, doesn't mean he's not part of the team. "Everybody's accepted him," says his mom.
