It sure feels good to come full circle.
After 20 years in news, I'm back home and I love it.
I remember pulling cables, directing shows, creating graphics, and having a blast at KITV. That's when I first worked here in production, in what seems like a lifetime ago! But, being a journalist was always my calling. After all, I had to put that University of Oregon journalism degree to work!
I've worked at 6 stations in 5 states from the east coast, to the mid-west to the Pacific Northwest.
It's hard to pick what stands out the most; covering terrorist cells in Montreal, tornadoes and deadly cold in Minnesota or the flooding and booming tech world in Washington.
I've managed to pick up a handful of awards along the way, including on a series about American troops fighting overseas.
But, I always knew the islands would lure me back. I was born and raised on Kauai and graduated from Kapaa High School.
One of my favorite things on Kauai, is picking tangerines and avocadoes from my family's backyard and talking story by the campfire.
I'm anchoring KITV4 News at 10, but not without getting time in for my first love: reporting.
I'm especially proud of a trip to Japan after the March 11th devastation, for a series of stories and a one-hour special called Kokoro: Hearts Across The Pacific.
So, it's been one great journey... one I can't wait to carry on.
