New performances of the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra were announced Monday after symphony music remained absent in Hawaii for over two years.
The Symphony's 2012 Masterworks season begins on March 4 with tickets going on sale on Wednesday, February 1 at 10:00am.
?It is our belief that having a symphony orchestra organization in Hawai'i is critical to the State?s artistic and economic vitality,? said Oswald Stender, OHA trustee and leader of the Symphony Board. ?We are all thrilled to be making the dream of a new orchestra a reality. ?
The classical music provided by the symphony has been absent from Oahu since it's last performance in December 2009. The Honolulu Symphony went bankrupt a year later and contracts with the unionized musicians became were finalized when the group decided to restart in Summer 2011.
