The state of Hawaii is auctioning seized property including cars, power tools, musical instruments, laptop computers, jewelry and cameras.

The Hawaii Department of the Attorney General said in a news release the Saturday auction is part of law enforcement efforts to fight crime by taking assets used in connection with criminal activities. Taking away criminals' property helps deter future illegal conduct, according to the statement.

Vehicles being auctioned at the Neal Blaisdell Center's Pikake Room on Dec. 4 at 11 a.m. include a 2007 Toyota Tacoma truck, a 2003 Ford F350 truck, a 2003 Cadillac CTS and a 2000 Ford Expedition.

Proceeds from the auction will go to state and county law enforcement agencies.

Employees and immediate family members of Hawaii police departments, prosecutor offices and attorney general's office are not eligible to buy the auction items.
