Parts of the Kailua Beach Park shoreline, between the boat ramp and Kaelepulu Stream, will close temporarily this week for sand replenishment, according to city officials.
The closure started Monday and goes through Friday. Daily closures will be between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The boat ramp and the unimproved boat parking lots will be closed as well.
The city will augment the beach with sand from Kaelepulu Stream.
KITV4's Moanikeala Nabarro says residents welcome the change but visitors aren't happy.
