The National Weather Service issued a high surf warning Thursday that is expected to affect all islands in the state of Hawaii until 6 a.m. Sunday.
The warning is for the north and west facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, and Maui. The warning is also for the west facing shores of Lanai and the Big Island.
Forecasters say a northwest swell will bring 20-to-30-foot-high surf Thursday night and into the weekend.
You can expect ocean water occasionally sweeping across portions of beaches.
There will be strong breaking waves as well as longshore and rip currents.
Breaking waves may occasionally impact harbors making navigating the harbor channel dangerous. Boaters should be aware of an increased number of surfers and body boarders utilizing the harbor channel to access surfing areas.
