Each hurricane season the National Weather Service in Hawaii prepares to keep a close watch on the tropical storm action in the Pacific Ocean.

Officials want residents to prepare in the event that a storm should hit the islands.

The last hurricane to hit the islands was Hurricane Iniki. The powerful storm knocked out power and caused damage on Kauai and Oahu.
