HONOLULU -

The National Weather Service has posted a flash flood watch for the Big Island and Maui until 6 p.m. Sunday.

Forecasters say a low aloft combined with ample moisture will bring the threat of heavy rain and thunderstorms to Maui and the Big Island on Sunday.

While heavy rain is not expected to be widespread, localized intense rainfall is expected to occur potentially leading to flash flooding in streams and urban areas.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding.  Flash flooding is very dangerous.  Remember, it does not have to be raining heavily where you are for flash flooding to occur.
