The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a flood advisory for the island of Molokai until 8 p.m.
At 5:06 p.m., radar showed heavy rain and thundershowers moving over western and central Molokai. While individual showers were moving toward the northeast near 20 mph, the line in which they are embedded is moving east at 10 mph. Rainfall rates near two inches per hour can be expected in the heaviest rain.
Other locations in the advisory include, but are not limited to, Maunaloa, Molokai Airport, Kualapuu, Kepuhi, Kalaupapa and Hoolehua.
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action. Do not cross fast-flowing or rising water in your vehicle or on foot.
