Maui Electric Company crews are working around the clock to restore power to customers following the wrath of Flossie that left more than 9,800 customers without power on Monday.
As 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, an estimated 500 customers remain without power with restoration for at least the majority of customers expected sometime later in the day.
Workers are responded to small isolated outages affecting various parts of the island including Kokomo, Kauhikoa, Makawao, Kula, Waiehu, Wailuku, Kahului, Maui Meadows, and Huelo to Nahiku in East Maui on Tuesday.
Lightning strikes to electrical equipment and fallen trees were found to be the cause of the outages experienced over the past 24 hours. Click here for the full story.
