Waterspout reported off Tracks surf spot

HONOLULU -

Oahu ocean safety officials reported a thunderstorm producing a waterspout offshore of the "Tracks" surfing area in Nanakuli moving southwest at 5 knots at around 12:40 p.m.

At 1:19 p.m., spotters reported flooded roadways in Waipahu and other communities  in Southwest Oahu with 6-to-8-inches of muddy water covering the street.  Heavy rain continues to fall over Leeward Oahu with rain rates as high as 3-inches-per-hour continuing a serious flood threat.

The flash flood warning for Oahu was cancelled before 3 p.m.

A flash flood watch was also posted for the state of Hawaii through Tuesday afternoon.  Forecasters say an upper level trough will maintain unstable conditions.
