Hawaii health exchange aiming for Oct. 15 relaunch
The executive director of Hawaii's health insurance marketplace says officials are hoping to turn around a stalled start by providing plans and pricing to consumers by Oct. 15.
But Hawaii Health Connector Executive Director Coral Andrews says there are no guarantees.
Andrews told state lawmakers during a hearing Wednesday that getting the marketplace running properly has been a fluid situation, with circumstances changing every day.
She says the exchange is required by statute to have its insurance providers validate how rates and plans are presented to consumers before they're rolled out publicly.
She says she knows the site didn't launch the way officials wanted it to on Oct. 1 at the start of open enrollment. But Andrews says she hopes the site will be more functional in the next couple weeks.
