Pier 1 Imports and the Nordstrom Rack will be relocating to Phase Two of the Ward Village Shops, according to an announcement Tuesday by The Howard Hughes Corporation.

The Ward Village Shops is approximately a two-level retail center along Auahi Street in front of the Ward Village Shops parking structure and adjacent to T.J. Maxx.  It is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in the fall of 2013.

Pier 1 Imports will be the first tenant of Phase Two.  It will occupy a 12,688-sqaure-foot store.  It is relocating from another site within Ward Centers.

"The relocation of Pier 1 Imports sets the stage for future phases of development that will begin the transformation of Ward into a mixed?use community," said David Striph, Hawaii senior vice president of The Howard Hughes Corporation.  "The new store will also enable the ever?popular Pier 1 Imports to continue to serve their loyal local shoppers as well as visitors who come to Ward Centers."

Nordstrom Rack is moving to a larger space at the Ward Village Shops.  The new store, which will be 45,000-square-feet, is set to occupy two levels.  Nordstrom has been in Honolulu since 1966 with shoe departments in Liberty House locations.

"We are pleased to welcome Nordstrom Rack into this latest phase of Ward Village Shops as part of our ongoing expansion," said Striph. "The new store will increase their space, enabling them to create a terrific shopping environment for their loyal local shoppers as well as visitors who come to Ward Centers."
