Man stabbed to death over missing corn dog

A southwest Florida man has been charged with second-degree murder after authorities said he stabbed his roommate to death for stealing his food.

St. Petersburg police said 36-year-old Corey Walker was angry on Tuesday morning, telling his roommates that someone was stealing food from his room. reported a corn dog was missing.

The two men live at a transitional house run by a local church.

"(Walker) was the only one there with corn dogs," police spokesman Mike Puetz told

Walker blamed Anthony Smith and grabbed a butcher knife from the kitchen and allegedly stabbed Smith once in the chest.

Another roommate flagged down a passer-by and asked him or her to call police.

The 56-year-old Smith died at the hospital.

Walker was arrested at the home without incident. The knife was recovered in the kitchen sink.
