Preston Crawford tried to kill girlfriend because of her new job, report says

A Florida man is accused of trying to kill his girlfriend because he didn't like that she'd just gotten a new job at a bar, according to a report.

Preston Crawford, 31, was charged with attempted murder after he beat, choked and burned his 22-year-old girlfriend in Daytona Beach on Thursday, reported.

A drunken Crawford accused his live-in girlfriend of going to bars after getting off work so she could meet men, a police report said.

He threatened to kill his girlfriend while he was trying to choke her, which caused her to pass out, the report said.

The woman eventually woke up to Crawford beating her with an electrical cord before kicking and punching her while covering her mouth with his hand, according to the arrest report.

The woman was eventually able to call 911 for help.

Crawford was being held at the Volusia County Jail without bail, the report said.
