The Moomin Cafe chain, which is dedicated to a series of Finish picture books that are popular in Japan, adopted the policy to help customers feel more welcome and comfortable while dining alone.
The stuffed, hippopotamus-like characters Moomintroll, Moominpappa, Moominmamma and Snork Maiden are all standing by to accompany diners in all of the restaurants Japan locations, according to a spokesperson from the company’s PR department.
