A UNC-Greensboro student was arrested after more than $12,000 in counterfeit money was found during an investigation, campus police said.

Symone Vannessa Brown, 19, of Charlotte, was charged with one felony count each of uttering a forged instrument, forgery of an instrument and obtaining property by false pretense. UNCG police said she is currently a registered student.

UNCG police allege Brown tried to use a fake $100 bill to buy a gift card Tuesday at the Walgreens on Spring Garden Street. A total of $12,882 in fake bills, mostly in $100 denominations, were found while executing a search warrant after her arrest, police said.

Police released an image of a fake $100 bill, which contained the signature "Moe Money."

Brown was arrested Tuesday and placed in the Guilford County Jail under a $3,000 bond. UNCG police and the US Secret Service are still investigating.
