HONOLULU, Hawaii -

A bill requiring Hawaii drivers to slow down to a safe speed, and give working emergency vehicles a one-lane leeway cleared a House & Senate Conference Committee.

Chief Louis Kealoha was one of those who showed up at the Capitol in support of the measure, when the Committee met Wednesday.

The "Move Over Bill" stems from the deaths of Honolulu Police Officers Eric Fontes, and Garrett Davis officers who died in the line of duty after motorists struck their parked patrol cars.

Failing to adhere to the proposed law would be treated like a simple moving violation.
