12-acre Kapolei brushfire believed to be arson

Officials believe a 12 acre brush fire in Kapolei may have been intentionally set and are seeking the public's help in finding suspicious persons who may have been at the scene.

KAPOLEI, Hawai'i -

After battling a brushfire for about two hours Sunday, fire investigators believe that the blaze was intentionally set.

The 12-acre fire broke out around 2:30 p.m. Sunday on  Lauwiliwili Street and was reported under control just before 5 p.m.

No injuries or damage to property reported.

Firefighters received an indication that a suspicious person was observed at the scene of the fire.

HFD is asking the public to report any suspicious activity before, during or after a brush fire by calling 911.
