WAILUKU, Hawaii -

Maui County fire crews were busy on Wednesday helping hikers on Maui.

At around 7 p.m., Wailuku rescue crews responded to Iao Valley State Park after a woman visiting from New York got separated from the group she was hiking with.

At around 2 p.m., firefighters from Wailuku joined with firefighters in Kahului to rescue an injured hiker stranded in Waihee.

The 65-year-old man visiting from Missouri hurt his knee while hiking Waihee Ridge.

He was lifted out of the ridge by helicopter, then taken to the hospital by a group of friends.
