Two men were jailed for a second time Wednesday on charges of beating and robbing a woman.

Authorities said the same two men were arrested and released earlier in the day, but two hours later, they were in trouble with police again.

"These two guys were beating on this woman, punching her with their fists -- had her knocked down on the ground," witness Tana Brandenburg said.

It was a startling sight for Tana and John Brandenburg, who were headed to work along Third Street about 10:30 a.m.

"This woman was wearing business attire. She was headed to work," Tana Brandenburg said. "It was disgusting, really. I felt bad for this lady."

Investigators said both of the men are accused of assaulting and trying to steal from the woman, and they were both arrested less than eight hours earlier.

Willie Rowlett faces charges of driving a stolen car, and his passenger, Andrew Graham, was arrested on outstanding warrants.

Rowlett and Graham were first arrested about 3 a.m. and scheduled for arraignment at 9 a.m. They were released after being arraigned, and officials said that's when the woman was attacked.

"By the time I got out of the car, they had her on the ground. Her purse, wallet, shoes were flung all over the sidewalk," Tana Brandenburg said.

The couple wanted to make sure the two men didn't get away.

"He actually drove down a one-way street, avoiding all traffic or trying to avoid an accident, of course. We drove down a one-way street and followed them," Tana Brandenburg said.

Rowlett and Graham were back in jail Wednesday night, and Tana Brandenburg said that's where they should stay.

"You've just got out of the Justice Center just minutes prior and then you're out robbing somebody? People like that don't need to be on the street," she said.
