At Kailua Intermediate School on Monday, friends gathered with hope and prayers for 15-year-old Denay Garcia.
Denay Garcia was critically injured in a truck crash on the Pali Highway early Sunday morning.
Denay's friend, 13-year-old Kamalani Kalama, was killed in the crash.

Her family posted a new page in memory of the daughter, the little sister lost too soon.
"We would all go up to the street and play basketball. She was fun. Really nice. We just had fun," said Siena Swift.
Denay's father, 33-year-old Mark Garcia, was killed in the crash.
The Garcias are from California and wanted to make Hawaii their home.
The Garcias moved to Kailua about two years ago. Neighbors say they had a bit of a rough time adjusting at first, but learned to love the islands.
Neighbors say Mark was busy building his car care supplies business, struggling financially at times, but always willing to lend others a hand.
"Here was very sincere in what he did," said neighbor and friend Ken Takeya. "Overall he was just a really nice guy. He was a fun person to be around."
Denay's mother, Chivon Garcia, released this statement on Monday thanking everyone for condolences and prayers.
