2013 Lahaina Noon dates, times set

Bishop Museum has released the dates and times for the 2013 Lahaina Noon schedule.

In the tropics, there are two dates a year where the sun passes exactly overhead at local noon.  One term in Hawaii for this phenomenon is Lahaina Noon.

Because the sun is directly overhead, objects should be shadowless.

The dates and times of "zenith noon" change depending on your location in the tropics.

The following are the timings for various locations in the Hawaiian Islands:
