A defense attorney for a federal agent charged with murder in a 2011 Waikiki shooting says no one disputes he shot and killed a man.

Karl Blanke says the shooting wasn't murder and that his client's "intent was to protect life."

Jurors who must decide whether the agent is guilty could begin deliberating after hearing closing arguments Thursday.

State Department Special Agent Christopher Deedy has been on trial since July 8. The 29-year-old from Arlington, Va. is accused of murder in the shooting death of Kollin Elderts at a McDonald's restaurant.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Janice Futa calls Deedy a "bully with a badge."
Deedy was in Honolulu to help provide security for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.

He claims he was protecting himself and others from an aggressive Elderts.
