A Wednesday morning house fire has left four children and one adult dead in Northwest Oklahoma City, according to firefighters.
Fire crews say 3 girls and 1 boy, ages 2 to 8 years old, and one woman are dead after an early-morning house fire in the 2800 block of Dorchester Drive. A sixth person was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition and, officials say, there was a seventh person injured, but they refused to be taken to the hospital.
There was no gas service going to the house and the house appears to have been heated by a fire place and space heaters, according to firefighters.
Battalion Chief Randy Cornelius is urging people to check their smoke detectors. He says crews got to the scene when the flames were extremely intense and there wasn’t much they could do to save those inside.
