A Halawa dog breeder surrendered 43 Pomeranians to the Hawaiian Humane Society Tuesday.

The dogs became too much for the breeder to take care of and they were living in deplorable conditions.  The breeder told the Humane Society she sells the dogs at weekly swap meets.

This case is a reminder to those looking for a pet to look into the animal's home before buying from a breeder.

"I asked her, 'When you sold animals, do you ever let people come to the house and view everything?'" said Keoni Vaughn from the Hawaiian Humane Society.  "That just goes to show you -- go to the breeder's house and see where they are coming from because you never know."

The Pomeranians are said to be in good shape.  The Hawaiian Humane Society hopes to have them ready for adoption by Friday.

With this latest rescue, the Hawaiian Humane Society is now in need of towels, newspaper, and large collapsible crates. Donations can be dropped off day or night
