WAIALUA, Hawaii -

Six people, five of them teenagers, were recovering Sunday morning after a head-on collision on Oahu's North Shore.

Police say it happened just after 6 p.m. Saturday on Kaukonahua Road, north of Schofield Barracks.   Emergency medical responders say the 17-year-old driver of a truck collided head-on with a car driven by a 42-year-old woman.

Three teens were thrown out of the bed of the truck on impact.  The driver of both vehicles and the passengers were hospitalized in serious condition.

Police temporarily shut down Kaukonahua Road between Wilikina Drive and the Halawa Triangle for about 45 minutes while they investigated.
