Accused Makiki store robber charged
Honolulu police charged 34-year-old Alika N. McShane in connection with the armed robbery of a Makiki convenience store Monday afternoon.
McShane turned himself in to officers at the main police station Wednesday morning after surveillance video was made public showing the robbery at the store on the corner of Pensacola and Davenport Streets.
The store owner's son said the brandished a gun at the cashier and took about $300 to $400 from the cash register.
The cashier says this is not the first time thieves stole items from the store, but she said she's never seen a gun used.
McShane, a Makiki resident, was charged with felony counts of robbery and use of a firearm. He was expected to make his initial appearance in District Court Thursday morning.
Bail is set at $40,000.
