Big Island Police apprehend female escapee

21-year-old Shaylyn Araw is back behind bars tonight. Big Island police say she scaled a 20-foot fence and escaped from Hale Nani Correctional Facility Sunday morning.

HILO, Hawaii -

Big Island police have apprehended an escapee from Hale Nani Correctional Facility Sunday.

According to police, 21-year-old Shaylyn Araw escaped by scaling a a 20-foot fence about 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Araw is described as having brown eyes, 5-foot-3, 110 lbs, brown should length hair, and tan complexion.  She was last seen wearing blue shorts and a white T-shirt with "HCC" printed on the back.  

According to state records, Araw was charged for violating a court order back in October last year.   The following month, she was re-sentenced for violating her conditions of bail.  

Araw was apprehended at approximately 3:50 p.m. Sunday in the Wainaku area.
