A grandmother faces charges after police said she drove drunk with children in her car.
On Saturday night, Helen Speer drove to a gas station with her grandchildren aged 3, 5 and 6. Police said she was drunk.
Police said Speer’s 6-year-old grandson took her keys away from her so that she couldn’t drive drunk. At the same time, an anonymous person called 911 and reported a woman who appeared to be drunk in a car with children.
Police were able to arrest Speer quickly.
On Sunday, a judge told Helen Speer that she can’t see her three grandchildren at all even though she has custody of them.
Speer was driving on a revoked license because of a previous DWI, according to police.
