An elderly man escaped certain death Thursday afternoon when he got tangled in the woods and could not escape.
Miraculously, a neighbor found him before it was too late.
"I heard this guy yell, 'Help me,'" said George Nevem.
The cry from Bill Wolford was faint and only made twice.
Wolford, who is in his 80s, has dementia, and his caregiver did not see him leave to go walking.
Nevem could not get over the fence to help Wolford but called for rescuers.
Wolford was tangled in vines and barbed wire. He was not able to help himself.
"I can't imagine what would have happened if my husband had not been in that spot at that time. It was meant to be," said Beth Nevem.
Wolford was not far from his home when he was found. He was checked out by medical personnel as a precaution.
