Pizza restaurants are busy on the eve of Thanksgiving.

HONOLULU -

Many residents have been swamped with shopping and prepping for the Thanksgiving feast.  Some island businesses also have a full plate, when it comes customers hungry for help this holiday.

The pizzas are flying off the shelves at Papa John's in Kapahulu.
In fact, business is really heating up for many restaurants before the big meal.

"Everyone is busy running around doing their shopping, getting ready for Thanksgiving. No one wants to cook numerous meals at one time, and they want a quick easy meal," said Papa John's Pizza  Manager Garret Chang.

That is why Robert Moon came in with his wife. "Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, so tonight we're just taking it easy with a pizza," said Moon.

His wife Sandra Grenell doesn't like to cook much anyway. She said a take-out meal takes the stress out of the holidays. "Its more relaxing this way. Just go home, relax and enjoy today," said Grenell.

While some residents relaxed, pizza shops ramped up operations making sure they were fully staffed.

"The holidays are busy. We're pumping out the pizza here," said LJ Hamlin, a driver for Papa John's Pizza.

All the pizza deliveries on Thanksgiving Eve, added to all the hustle and bustle out on the streets.

"Keeps us busy, feeding the people before Thanksgiving. A lot of deliveries are made tonight," said Hamlin.

In fact, it is one of the top five busiest nights for pizza makers.

"Halloween and the Superbowl are the busiest, but this ranks right up there with Valentines Day. Anything that has people not in school and at home, we'll be getting a lot of calls," said Chang.
