HAIKU, Hawaii -

Two fishermen swam their way back to shore this morning after their boat sank Friday off Pauwela on Maui's north shore, according to a Maui County fire spokesman.

The two men went missing after their 21-foot fishing vessel, the Hailey Kai, sank after taking on water around 3:40 a.m.

The two fishermen, 31-year-old Kyle Ponichtera and 17-year-old Trevor Brown from Wailuku, made it to shore.  Both of them were in good condition and did not require medical attention.

Ponichtera made his way to shore near 244 Nahele Road.  Brown was reported back on shore at around 6:30 a.m. at an unknown location.

The Coast Guard and Maui fire crews searched for the missing fishermen until their arrival on shore was confirmed.
