A man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in a Pearl City house fire that killed a 97-year-old woman.

Thirty-five-year-old Michael Dahilig pleaded guilty Wednesday in an agreement with prosecutors.

He was accused of intentionally setting a March 30 fire that killed Betty Hagihara.

Honolulu's top prosecutor Keith Kaneshiro says Hagihara's family members approve of the deal.

Kaneshiro says an arson charge was dropped because it merges with the manslaughter count.

Dahilig also pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary, two of which were at Hagihara's home.  He also pleaded guilty to attempted burglary of her home and other crimes.

He was seen rummaging through the fire's rubble the morning after.  He's agreed to be sentenced to 35 years on Nov. 20.
