HALEIWA, Hawaii -

The Haleiwa Farmers Market was given a deadline Thursday by the state to stay open through the end of the month.

The state was working on a year-long lease for organizers when officials came upon a law that makes it illegal to sell from public highways.

The state initially ordered the market to shut down.

About 60 vendors and 2,500 shoppers fill the Haleiwa Farmers market each Sunday.

Haleiwa Farmers Market organizer Pamela Boyer said a press conference will be held Sunday to talk about possible future site locations.
