Judge keeps shooting video sealed from public
Circuit Court Judge Karen Ahn ruled Thursday to keep surveillance video of a deadly shooting at a McDonald's restaurant in Waikiki sealed from the public at least until another court hearing on July 13.
Last week, the attorney representing special agent Christopher Deedy, the man accused of murdering Kollin Elderts from Kailua last November, argued that the video of the shooting should be made public as a matter of constitutional law.
But, prosecutors believe the video could taint a potential jury that hasn't been picked for the trial scheduled later this year.
Deedy was in town for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation conference and his defense attorney says his 28-year-old client was acting in his professional capacity as a state department special agent.
Trial is scheduled for September 10.
