HONOLULU -

Kamehameha Schools has released an instructional video that shows how to control the Coffee Berry Borer beetle.

In February, the state Dept. of Agriculture established permanent rules to transport unroasted coffee beans and other coffee-related materials between Hawaii island and other islands to prevent the spread of the Coffee Berry Borer.

A single borer can lay 90 eggs in a single coffee cherry and farmers say it could devastate the local coffee industry.

Kamehemeha Schools posted the video, in either English or Spanish, on its website.

The Dept. of Agriculture has more information on the Coffee Berry Borer on its website.
