LIHUE, Hawaii -

A jury found Vicente K. Hilario guilty Friday for the 2010 murder of Aureo Arick Moore, according to Kauai county officials.

The jury deliberated for less than two days following a trial which lasted nearly a month.  Chief Judge Randal G. B. Valenciano presided.

Hilario, 26, of Anahola, was charged with first-degree murder, witness intimidation, retaliating against a witness, and bribery of a witness, following the Dec. 17, 2010, shooting death of Moore.

Evidence presented at trial showed that Hilario shot Moore six times in order to prevent him from testifying against Kyle Akau, a friend of Hilario’s, concerning the Aug. 21, 2010, Kapaa Safeway parking lot armed robbery.

The jury found Hilario guilty of murder and all other counts, in addition to finding that he actually possessed and used the firearm in the commission of the murder.

Hilario’s trial was continued on a number of occasions before commencing on Jan. 7 of this year.

Sentencing is set for June 13, 2013.  Hilario faces a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
