Man, 70, dies after Kunia Road crash

WAIPAHU, Hawaii -

A 70-year-old man died after a crash near the intersection of Kunia Road and Anonui Street Monday morning, according to Honolulu police.

The crash was reported at around 9:45 a.m.  Police say the man's car veered into oncoming traffic.  It then swerved and hit a fence causing the vehicle to overturn.

Emergency Services officials say the man was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition where he was later pronounced dead.

Honolulu police say Kunia Road was closed from Anonui Street to Hawaii Country Club. during the investigation.  It was reopened at around 11:00 a.m.

An investigation is underway to see if the man's death is a result of a medical condition.

Investigators say speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.

This is the 23rd traffic fatality on Oahu this year.
