OMAHA, Neb. -

A man called 911 Thursday when he noticed an intruder in his apartment via a webcam.

Authorities said 24-year-old Anthony called police just before noon from a remote location.

Anthony said he has an app that connects his phone to his iPad back at home.

"It's called the baby monitor 3G, so it's intended for babies, but it also works for dogs, too" Anthony said.

He said he heard his dog barking through the speaker, so he activated the camera to see what was wrong.

"I just saw a person, and I just kind of went into panic mode," he said.

Right away, he called 911 and started driving home.

"I didn't want to get back to confront the guy because that could be really dangerous, but I thought an eye witness encounter would be beneficial," Anthony said.

Officers arrived at the man's apartment near 96th and Q streets and found the burglary suspect in the parking lot.

Thanks to the app, Anthony could give police a description of the man.

The suspect, identified as Ronney Perry, 31, was found with items belonging to the resident, police said. Perry was booked on one count of burglary.
