HONOLULU -

Honolulu police are looking for one of two men who led officers on a chase around Oahu before crashing near the Circuit Court in Honolulu Thursday afternoon.

Officers say it all started in Kailua where a black Dodge pickup was allegedly stolen Thursday morning.  Then, police started getting calls of attempted car break-ins at Makapuu Park at around noon.  Police pursued the suspects into Kailua and over the Pali Highway.

The chase ended at the corner of Punchbowl Street and Pohukaina Street at around 12:50 p.m. where the suspects crashed a truck into newspaper boxes.

It was a close call for Esperanza Obero who was on her way to the Social Security office.

"We heard the police car coming  and we never saw the truck.  Then, all of a sudden we looked behind us because there was a big bang and it was him," said Obero.  "Then, two guys got out of the car and started running."

Witnesses saw the two suspected car thieves run through the Restaurant Row garage.  Witnesses say the suspects dropped a bag.

One of the men, a 30-year-old passenger in the truck, was caught by police.

The driver is still on the loose.  Police say he's wearing a black bandana and a black hoodie.

One officer said the owner of the truck said he didn't even know his truck was stolen until officers called to tell him.
