Tsunami Warning

WAILUKU, Hawaii -

Lahainaluna High School gymnasium has been opened as an evacuation center, according to Maui County officials.

The Department of Education has also opened up Maui High School gymnaium as an evacuation center.

The Wind Farm storage area at the Maui Research and Technology Park has been opened up as a waiting area for the public.  This means you can park in the area but that there may not be water or restrooms available.

As of 9:30 p.m., all roads connecting to tsunami evacuations zones have been closed.  Maui County residents are urged to conserve water and not flush their toilets as sewer and water services have been turned off until after the tsunami event.  This applies to all Maui County residents and not just those in low-lying areas.

Civil Air Patrol is not in operation because their airplane is being repaired.  Instead, the Maui Police Department is sending out units to evacuate beaches and other low-lying areas.
