An 11-year-old girl who disappeared on Friday was found safe Sunday night.
Police said Makanani Tavai-Bright was found unharmed around 6 p.m. in Palolo Valley.
The girl ran away from her Kaimuki home on Friday and may have been staying with friends since.
A source close to the Tavai-Bright family said a friend's parent called police after they recognized her face on the news.
Earlier Sunday, friends and family passed out fliers in Waikiki, in hopes of the girl's safe return.
"It's frightening as a father that I'm not the one protecting her -- that she might be in a dangerous spot," said Kenneth Bright, Makanani's father.
Police said the girl is okay. Friends of the family said the girl was at Kapiolani Medical Center for observation and testing.
