A Cedarburg bar confirmed Guido the missing Italian racing sausage was returned  Wednesday night.

Earlier Wednesday, Klement's Sausage Company called the disappearance the "wurst of times" after someone stole the costume -- a $3,000 outfit.

Klement's rents out the costumes, but someone walked away with the garb of Guido the Italian Feb. 16.

Referred to as the sex symbol of the racing sausages -- the Italian mascot is mustachioed and suave. The Brewers said its Italian mascot loves attention, but police said their hunt for the missing Guido costume was no publicity stunt.

"It's a felony," Cedarburg Police Detective Jeffrey Vahsholtz said.

An imposter donned Guido's duds during Winterfest in suburban Cedarburg on Feb. 16.

The spicy Italian had marched in Cedarburg's winter parade earlier in the day and was waiting for a second appearance when a witness spotted him slipping out the door at the Milwaukee Curling Club.

Police found Facebook photos of him at the roadhouse bar later that night, working the crowd, joining the band and looking a little worse for the wear. His chef's hat was black with dirt.

He also showed up at another local bar, TJ Ryan's.

A bartender there confirmed someone returned the costume just before 8 p.m. and Cedarburg police were called to pick it up.

The police told 12 News they could not comment on an open investigation but that they were hoping to 'ketchup' to the person responsible.
