A victim of the Boston Marathon bombings who lost both legs in the blasts near the race finish line got a special hospital visit Thursday by a Hollywood star and a New England Patriots player.

Jeff Bauman Jr. was at Monday's race cheering on his girlfriend when the blast rocked Boylston Street.

Rescuers rushed the 27-year-old away from the explosion site in a wheelchair. He was taken to Boston Medical Center, but doctors had to amputate his legs because of extensive vascular and bone damage.

Actor Bradley Cooper, who is in town shooting a movie, and Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman, visited Bauman in his hospital room.

Edelman tweeted out a photo of the meeting and said Bauman was "looking great and is a true inspiration."

After his first surgery, the Chelmsford native had to have more surgery because of fluid in his abdomen. His condition improved later.
