Police: Best friends' argument over video game leads to brawl

HOUMA, La. -

Two best friends were arrested on Saturday after a dispute over a video game led to combat between the two.

The incident happened on Saturday about 7:15 a.m. in the 500 block of Wilson Avenue.

Police said 19-year-old Patrick Cloud and 21-year-old William Lirette began brawling after a fight over a video game escalated.

During the battle royal, police said, Cloud punched and kicked his friend, Lirette, in the face, causing him to suffer a laceration to his forehead.

Lirette then grabbed a gun from his home, pointed it at his best friend and fired the gun into the ground.

Cloud was arrested on one count of second-degree battery. Lirette was arrested on one count of illegal use of a weapon and aggravated assault with a  firearm.

They were taken to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex.
