Police in Old Orchard Beach have charged a man with engaging a prostitute after police said he called them for help claiming the prostitute ripped him off.
Police said Scott Pipher, 34, of Portsmouth, N.H., told them the alleged prostitute shortchanged him by 10 minutes and he wanted his money back.
Officers then launched an investigation and arrested Krystal Harmon, 28, of Old Orchard Beach, and charged her with engaging in prostitution.
Harmon is scheduled to appear in Biddeford District Court on Dec. 12.
Pipher will be in court on Jan. 30.
News 8 reached out to Pipher but he had no comment on the situation.
Police said while the incident may be bizarre, it has sparked an investigation and more arrests that are unrelated.
"We made another arrest that was completely separate from this particular situation, and we're continuing an ongoing investigation into any prostitution that may be taking place in the town of Old Orchard Beach," said Lt. Timothy DeLuca.
Police said they created a special law enforcement team that is continuing to investigate leads.
