Honolulu police said two assaults happened within a day of each other at a popular park near the University of Hawaii-Manoa campus.
Investigators said that at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday a student reported that a UH Manoa student had been sexually assaulted. The woman had been at Kanewai Park, and when she was leaving she was grabbed from behind by an unknown man.
Police said the victim heard the voices of other people and the attacker ran away in an unknown direction.
A UH Manoa student said she was walking alone toward campus on a sidewalk adjacent to the recreational facility at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday when a car stopped behind her and an unidentified man grabbed her by the arm and pulled her toward the car, police said.
The woman told police when she yelled the man released her, and she was able to get away.
Anyone with information about either of the incidents is asked to call HPD at 911 or campus security at 956-6911.
