LIMAHULI, Hawaii -

Police in Kaua'i have shut down Kuhio Highway north of Limahuli Gardens as they continue to search for a man suspected of throwing a tourist off a hiking trail.

The closure blocks road access to Ke'e Beach and the adjacent parking lots. Police said the Ke'e Beach trailhead also remains closed.

Police have been searching for Justin Wynn Klein, 37, since Sunday afternoon after a woman was reported thrown off a cliff near Kalalau Beach. Investigators said the woman, a 31-year-old Japanese tourist, remains in critical condition at Wilcox Hospital.

Officers said Klein is described as a Caucasian male about 6 feet 1 inch tall, with brown hair in a Mohawk style, possibly a moustache and a beard, and a band-style tattoo around his left arm.

Police said Klein is considered dangerous and should not be approached.

Anyone with information on Klein's whereabouts is asked to call the Kaua'i Police Department at 808-241-1711.
