Salvation Army's Red Kettle ringing begins
The Salvation Army officially kicked off its holiday Red Kettle bell ringing campaign Monday.
Red kettles will appear in 90 locations across the state. The Angel Tree Program will also officially start at all Central Pacific Bank branches and major shopping malls starting Nov. 23. Holiday gifts for needy children and seniors as well as monetary donations are accepted at all of the bank's branches.
Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle deposited the first ceremonial donation into The Salvation Army red kettle. He was joined by Central Pacific Bank CEO and President John Dean. They rang the bell beside the red kettle at the corner of King and Bishop Streets at Tamarind park.
